Some doctors simply want a question-and-answer session. This can take place at the beginning, middle, end, or after a practice transition or purchase. Write down all of your questions and fire them at me as fast as you can. I will answer the questions based on my education, experience, and opinion. Many doctors want to get a second opinion to confirm the decision they are leaning towards. At other times, the doctors just have a lot of questions and want answers before they are ready to even consider purchasing a practice.

Our Process

Step 01

Clarity Phase

We ask a variety of questions about your life and professional goals, expectations from dental practice ownership, personality, preferences, and non-negotiables. Assessing your clinical skill set is a critical component of the Clarity Phase.

In short, we follow Steven Covey’s advice to “Begin with the end in mind.”, and consider everything from that perspective.

Step 02

Practice Analysis

Now that we know exactly what you’re wanting and what your needs and expectations are from a practice, we only look at practices that fit those parameters.

Get pre-approved with two to three dental practice transition lenders

Analyze an existing practice evaluation or appraisal

Perform an initial analysis if it is not listed with a broker

Submit a letter of intent

Chart audit and office visit

Step 03

Finalization &
Binding Agreements

Physically visiting the dental office to perform a chart audit as well as assess location, street visibility, signage, parking, equipment, and floor plan.

Hire a CPA

Review & sign all binding agreements

Testimonials

Group 826

“I have worked with Jack for 32 years. I first met Jack in Dental School at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1992. Jack is a tremendously gifted person with a great knowledge of dentistry, dental practices and valuations. He is a man of integrity, character and honesty. I have always admired Jack for the relationships he builds with his patients, colleagues and clients. He is dedicated to seeing the process through to the end and works diligently to achieve the best result. His attention for detail and gift for problem solving has made him successful at every endeavor he has pursued.

He was an excellent student at OHSU. Jack built a very successful dental practice in Bend with loyal patients and a profitable model during his 20 years of practice. He has helped me in my practice finding associates, establishing systems and dealing with challenging practice issues. Jack is a great resource and will provide you with timely advice on achieving a successful practice purchase and transition. I am thankful for Jack and the help that he has provided to in my practice. He has helped me both clinically and with practice management. I give Jack Miller my highest recommendation. You will not be disappointed.“

“I have known Jack Miller for 33 years, and have always known him as a person of utmost integrity. With his knowledge of both the business as well as the clinical aspects of dentistry, it was an easy decision to call Jack when it came time to sell my practice.”

"Dr. Miller made what could have been a super stressful, confusing process so much easier. His experience with practice transitions really showed—from the initial evaluation to helping with financing and the hand-off from the retiring doctor, he knew exactly what needed to happen. He even connected me with a great Dental Attorney and CPA, which was a huge help. The way he broke down the patient base and new patient flow gave me a lot of confidence in making the right decisions. If you’re looking to take the stress out of a transition, I can’t recommend Dr. Miller enough."

Joel Gardner, DMD

About Jack Miller

Founder of DPPA

I graduated from Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry in 1995. After graduation, I purchased a small dental practice. A few years later, I hired an associate dentist, sold half of the practice to him, and formed a partnership.

After 17 years of private practice, I had to retire early due to a health issue that affected my hand and arm. I then became a licensed realtor and spent seven years as a dental practice broker.

The part I enjoyed the most about brokering was advising the buyers in the practice transition process. I formed Dental Practice Purchasing Advisors to specialize in this endeavor. I am married with four children and one granddaughter and live in Surprise, Arizona. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, cycling & spending time with friends and family.
